Austin Scarlett

Austin Scarlett is a New York designer whose work spans from fashion, theatre, and pop culture. He is recognized for his glamorous style as well as his enchanted elegant and romantic designs. Austin Scarlett was on the first season of Project Runway and he returned for the 2012 Project Runway: All Stars!
Some of his looks from Project Runway are...
Project Runway: All Stars - Episode 2 - A Night at the Opera
Austin won this challenge! They were suppose to design an outfit for a night at the Opera, and Austin created:

I think he did a great job! I love the fabric, it's nice and looks expensive, and I love the neckline! It's a really elegant dress.

Episode 4 : Creating a tasteful outfit inspired by the color and flavor of varying gelatin!
I'm not sure what Austin got, but...

This is a cute and fun little dress right? I love the braided part which acts like a one-shoulder strap!

Episode 5 : Finding a muse as inspiration
Ughhh, I have to say this is one of my favorite looks from Austin, I mean omg, it's so cool

I love the jacket and the skirt! It's adorable, maybe he could adjust the neckline a little, but overall I think it's great! Mondo won this challenge though, darn you Mondo! (;

Episode 6 : Sportswear for a seasonal weekend getaway!

I think this is a really cute outfit! The pants are a little high, but hey, that's the design of it! Maybe not the most original with a twist, but it's still cute and ready-to-wear!

Episode 8: A Flaggy Inspiration?
This challenge was to create a dress inspired by a national flag, I wasn't sure which Austin got (once again--sorry~) but here's his runway look:

It's elegant and flowy right? I think it looks wonderful! Since it's pretty hard to design something inspired by a flag, I've seen several dresses that just look like the flag...and it's a no-go. So, although Mondo won, once again, I think all the designers did really good!

Episode 9: Avant Garde with Lighting Effects?!
This was a pretty cool challenge, and this is my favorite design! I swear it's like the best

His design is just so pretty and whimsical, yeah, it may not be totally covered all in lights and all, but damn, he did a pretty fine job. Some of the other designers wowed me with their design, but it wasn't as great as mon cher Austin's design! AND HE WON THIS CHALLENGE! Yay~!

Alright, so Austin didn't win, Mondo did. Arg, you Mondo! Anyway, Austin started to design a whole collection of wedding dresses which are also fabulous!
Here are some of my favorites, but check out his entire collection : http://www.austinscarlett.com/collection !

"Grand yet delicate, romantic yet unexpected, the Austin Scarlett collection takes a thoroughly modern approach to vintage Paris couture. Creativity and classical elegance combine with time honored techniques to create a glamorous collection that enchants the senses and redefines romance."

Elie Saab

Elie Saab (also known as ES) is a Lebanese fashion designer, his main workshop is in Lebanon, but he also has additional shops in Milan and Paris.
I think it's worth checking out his website : Elie Saab , because it hits you with "amazement" once you click on the link. This cool music starts playing and then it goes to his runway looks!

Haute-Couture
Spring/Summer 2013
The runway was awesome! There's these mirrors that are just so cool. Check out the full show if you can!
I couldn't upload the photo's, but click on this link : Haute Couture Spring Summer 2013 and it'll take you right to the designs, and there's also a detail button which describes the dress and shows you up-close images.

Paris Couture Fashion Week
Fall/Winter 2013-14
This is also a really cool collection. I also love this runway! It's so dark, and it seems like it's in some kind of red theater, which compliments and adds the boldness to his already bold, yet elegant designs.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior's reputation as one of the most important "couturiers" of the twentieth century was launched in 1947 with his first collection, "New Look"
"After years of military and civilian uniforms, sartorial restrictions and shortages, Dior offered not merely a new look but a new outlook"
There are some of his haute couture designs:

"Bar" suit and jacket
Summer/spring 1947
Made with silk shantung, later the reproduced skirt was made with wool.

"Chérie" Dinner Dress
Summer/ Spring 1947
Made with silk. This look exemplifies the "New Look" with its sloped shoulders, raised bust line, narrow waist, and a full volume skirt.

"Abandon" Afternoon Dress
Fall/Winter 1948-49
Made with silk and cotton. Vogue noted the extraordinary neckline of the dress, specifying the "plunging neckline with side-slanted fold."

"Venus" Dress
1949
Grey silk net embroidered with feather-shaped opalescent sequins, rhinestones, stimulated pearls, and paillettes.

Dinner Dress
Fall/Winter 1949-50
Made with wool and silk. Dior was known for his ultra-feminine silhouettes, but this dress has masculine features which resembles and inspired by men's tuxedos

"Junon" Dress
Fall/Winter 1949-50
Pale-blue silk net embroidered iridescent blue, green, and rust sequins.

"Pisanelle" Cocktail Ensemble
Fall/Winter 1949-50
Romanticism to the runway! This is a navy and blue silk satin dress with navy silk velvet.

 "Partie Fine" Dress
Spring/Summer 1951
Made with silk, nylon, and leather, this separate bodice and skirt has the appearance of a one-piece dress. This was the prime focus of the 1951 collection.

"La Cigale"
Fall/Winter 1952-53
Made with silver grey silk moiré, Vogue (September 1, 1952) considered this "a masterpiece of construction and execution," while Harper's Bazaar (September 1952) considered it heavy, resembling a pliant metal.

Coat
Spring/Summer 1953
Made with silk, this coat completely fits in this 1953 spring collection, Tulip. Refreshing innocence!

"Cupola" Cocktail Dress
Fall/Winter 1953-54
Made with silk, the buttons on the front add the charm of historictism to this dress.

"Eventail" Cocktail Dress
Fall/Winter 1956-57
Made of royal blue and navy wrap-printed taffeta with a navy horsehair band trim

Project Runway: An Unconventional Coney Island

This was an unconventional team challenge.
The teams are:
                           Justin and Alexander
                           Kate and Helen
                           Jeremy and Ken
                           Sue and Sandro
                           Bradon and Karen
                           Dom and Alexandria
                           Miranda and Timothy
Team Miranda and Tim are hilarious because Miranda really dislikes him and states that they clash, but Timothy believes the complete opposite and he was so excited that they were working together!
I was hoping (because I'm awful) that one team would SUCK and win little prizes, but obviously that's not the point and they won a bunch of blue alien and unicorns and one-eyed monsters and frogs.
The teams I wanted to watch was Justin and Alexander because I feel that they would compliment each other and create something wonderful, Jeremy and Ken because they would probably create something awesome (and I love Jeremy's accent) and Miranda and Timothy because their feeling are different, so I wanted to see how they would work together.
I didn't expect Sandro to be so uncompromising, and he's a bit scary. Miranda, if she felt that Timothy "changed" the design should confront him first rather than Sandro.
Anyway, without further ado, the final looks:

Justin and Alexander:
I was wrong believing that Alexander and Justin would compliment each other. I don't like how there's so much make-up on the model's face (and the make-up matches the shoes)! It would've been a fine dress if it wasn't over designed. It's just too busy! This was on the bottom.

Alexandria and Dom:
I felt like this looked like a baby's costume. I get how some people would think it looks cute and all but, if you wore this to work/school/out, you'll probably get bullied to death, I swear, it'll happen. It is a cool design and I like the casual approach though, but it's Domo-like. Ugh, I don't know. I don't think this should've been on the top, Jeremy's and Ken should have at least been on top!

Bradon and Karen:
This was pretty okay. I don't know about the teddy bear stuffing thing around the shoulder and butt though.

Helen and Kate:
This was a pretty design made with red sombreros. I don't like the horns around her chest area though, they should have made it smooth. I'm not really impressed with the construction in the front, it looks better in the back (or is it just me?).

Jeremy and Ken:
THE PANTS, AND THE TOP, AND THE JACKET. These guys should've been on top! It's modern and chic and the pants are so wonderful! Jeremy, you made great pants once again. I love how Jeremy and Ken didn't make a dress. I really love the outfit, shame that it wasn't on top (It should have won. Really. It should have.) The colors work actually; the top and jacket are in neutral colors, so the insane, yet pretty, blue looks nice with the top! I love the hair too, it makes the model look like this rocker chick.

Miranda and Timothy:
This wasn't the worst design, but it's not very good either. I actually like the vest that Timothy made, but the dress was just kind of blah.
I do not like Miranda at all, she's a liar and a two-faced lassie. Initially, Miranda told all the viewers that she didn't like Timothy, his attitude toward people, and his designs, but then when they were alone and collaborating at the park, she said "I think we'll work well together." Okay... then what did you just tell us? Anyway, I don't appreciate how Miranda did such an awful act of backstabbing her own partner! She apologized and I respect that, but then she said it was because she was too stressed and needed to blow off steam, well, if I met you, I don't think we could be friend, actually I don't know if she can be friends with anyone because no one wants to be her punching bag. I don't think Tim should've complained on the runway, but whatever. Arg, this drama complicates my life even if it has nothing to do with my life! These childish drama needs to stop.
Both are pretty weak, I do think Tim should have stayed a little longer, and Miranda should've went home because I think the vest is pretty cute.

Sue and Sandro:
This was a pretty dress and I like the blue. The dress would've been better executed if the model didn't put her hands near her crotch and lift the dress up.
In the beginning, Sue and Sandro (when they went to the yogurt cart) looked like the couple that would do well together, but as they went into the work room, everything changed! Sandro was so disrespectful towards Sue! He treated her as an inferior creature, and didn't even allow her to incorporate her aesthetic. At the end, Sandro stated that he got his way and it should have been that way because men need to be above women or something, no, just no. Women can make prettier things that you, Sandro; Sue can make prettier things than you!

What is beauty?

Beauty has no single meaning; beauty is inside, but it's also outside; beauty is in a human or in a dog or a cat or a mouse or a rat. Beauty is life and death, beauty is in those with different disorders, not because the disorder is beautiful, but because the person who has the disorder is beautiful, and those people are probably the most beautiful, because even if they don't want it to happen, the world can be a cruel and misunderstanding place where the unique and different are incorrectly judged and isolated, even harassed.
Honestly, I have instantly judged people before, and I still do even if I try not to, but I learned that before I do judge anyone, there might be more behind the story.
What would you do if you saw a little boy like Nathaniel Newman?
You would think something right? Maybe good, maybe bad, we are not Gods, and though we might attempt to be, we know we're not. If society was prefect with happy and encouraging opinions and support, the world would be gone of sorrow and unhappiness. But let me just say one thing, this little boy before us is probably better than most people in the world, he's certainly a better person than me, and stronger too.
This is Nathaniel Newman, a young boy who suffers from a rare autosomal (chromosome) dominant congenital disorder, known as Treacher Collins syndrome, which is characterized by craniofacial deformities, such as absent cheekbones. This disorder is generally caused by a genetic mutation. He was born with no ears, no cheekbones, severe downward slanting eyes, and little to no jawline. He has probably undergone more surgeries than some older adults or even our elders, and these surgeries are performed only to allow him to breathe or eat, everything necessary to live.
Make sure to watch: Nathaniel Newman when he was on Taboo, the episode was called "Ugly."
Now, I don't think anyone had the right to call someone else ugly or any other degrading words, because, take a moment to think, we're all human. No one has more power than the person next to them. We're all the same species, we may have different religious beliefs and different backgrounds, but we are more alike than we are different.
Nathaniel Newman is probably one of the most beautiful person in the world, even though I have never met him personally. He is beautiful because he is so different, and because he endured emotional and physical hardships, which shaped his character and made his the perfect person that he is, he stays strong and continues to live his life with complete happiness. I don't know if I could be as strong as he is, and I'm probably 9 years older than him, I truly admire Nathaniel and everyone who suffers from Treacher Collins, just remember that you are special and have overcome more than most people, you're a gift, forget about the opinion of others!

If you were randomly walking down the street, and saw a rather large person, would you care to think of a scientific reason for their current state?
We're only human, there's a limit what what we can achieve and think, you know? We're not perfect, but with information, we learn, we could change our attitude, if not by a lot, then at least a little piece was changed.

Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare, genetic disorder where 7 genes of the 15th chromosome are deleted or unexpressed. PWS is characteristic of low muscle tone, short stature, incomplete sexual development, problem behaviors, and a chronic feeling of hunger that leads to excessive eating can cause life threatening obesity if not retrained or self-restrained.
People with PWS never feel full, so they're always compelled to eat, and if they can't control themselves, they would eat to death. It's not always easy to control your impulse to eat when you're hungry, so people with PWS struggle with that, and they're often misunderstood. With no information or knowledge of PWS, one might just think one person is obese by their own choice, but that is not the case.
If you want to know more about PWS and watch a documentary, then check out:
I highly respect people with PWS, since they're working so much harder than most people. They're always trying to better themselves and they're wonderful, I mean, like I said with Nathaniel Newman, they're people better than me.

There are whole bunch of misunderstood disorders such as Tourette's Syndrome which causes repetitive  involuntary movements and vocal tics; Schizophrenia, a mental health disorder characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and an inability to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences; Obsessive-Compulsion Disorder, an anxiety disorder that causes repetitive thoughts, actions, and feelings, causing the individual to act on their compulsion and obsessive rituals, Autism, a disorder of neurological development, and plenty more. Before you judge someone, just stop yourself and think, everyone need to be respected more, rather than be degraded, you wouldn't want to be treated horribly, so don't do it to others.

Animals have disorders also, and check out this video: Physically Disabled Puppy Learns To Walk to keep you going (;
